Good Faith Estimate

Your right, as a self-pay client, to a written estimate of expected charges.

Legal

Last updated October 25, 2026.

Your Right to an Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give clients who don't have insurance, or who aren't using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for services. This is called a Good Faith Estimate.

Because Inner Space Psychological Services is private pay, this applies to self-pay therapy clients.

What It Includes

  • You can ask for an estimate before scheduling, and you'll receive one in writing.
  • The estimate covers items and services reasonably expected for your care.
  • If you are billed at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Disputing a Bill

Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
